Chemicals in household cleaners are extrememly deadly and carcinogenic.
Did you know women who work at home are 50% more likely to get cancer because of their exposure to those chemicals. Think about this:
Fabric Softeners, loaded with chemicals and perfumes, coat fabrics like the sheets and pillowcases on your bed. If you use these you are spending 1/3 of your life surrounded by carcinogenic chemicals.
Body creams and lotions: one question: would you feel safe eating any of these? Our skin is the largest organ of our body, but we don’t worry about covering this organ with creams made of ???
Floor Cleaners: Babies and children crawl on floors and then put their hands in their mouths. Our pets live on floors and then lick their paws and fur. Would you feel fine with licking a fresh, clean Swiffer?
We are being bombarded with carcinogenc chemicals daily and wondering why so many people are dying from cancer. At least we have the power to control these harmful chemicals in our home, not to mention all the money we can save by cutting back on many quick and easy cleaners.
There are many great handbooks written giving us hundreds of cleaning alternatives that use no harmful chemicals. Vinegar and baking soda do a wonderful job in many cases. There are cleaning clothes made now that clean using only water. Do yourself and your family and favour and try making a few chemical-free changes in 2012.

She is extremely knowledgable on this topic and is working tirelessly to stop the Canadian government from banning the sale of natural, raw, high enzymatic vitamins and minerals. SSKI
Potassium Iodine: Last September I started taking a drop a day to help boost my thyroid function. I had also read that 8 to 10 drops in a glass of water would help kill viruses and throat infections. Today we are hearing that people in Japan are taking iodine pills to illiminate the effects of radiation.
There is a great website www.tahomaclinic.com where Dr. Johnathan Wright lists many of the positive health benefits of taking SSKI. Everything from curing bladder infections, to helping women with fibrosystic breast disease to flattening keloids (abnormally thick scars)…… The information is in his blog – put SSKI in the search box.
Doctors are finally learning more about the thyroid and how many damaging effects an underactive thyroid can have on the body. Many women approaching menopause start to lose some thyroid function which causes them to feel sluggish and fatigued. They have trouble shedding extra pounds when weight was never an issue before. Hair loss, depression, brain fog and poor memory are also problems caused by an underactive thyroid. Symptoms can start as early as mid to late 20′s and the symptoms can be mild enough to ignore for a long time. Doctor’s often will not prescribe a thyroid test, and if they do, they seldom prescribe the correct test that checks both the T4 and T3 levels to get an accurate reading. Often people are told their thyroid is normal when it is not
Thyroid tests also have a wide range of “normal” function. Your thyroid could be functioning at 30% of peak efficiency, but the tests will say your thyroid is fine, when it is not. One or 2 drops of SSKI per day may quickly improve your thyroid function.
NOTE: It is possible to take too much iodine, so it is best research this more if you plan to take it for a prolonged length of time. Talk to your doctor.
SSKI is my new best friend in the medicine cabinet. I have not had one throat infection, bad cold or virus since using SSKI in September. When I feel a sore throat starting or a hint of chest congestion I take 8 or 9 drops of SSKI in a glass of water – go to bed early to get a good night’s sleep and the symptoms are gone in the morning. Thankfully I have been able to avoid getting a flu shot and had no flu problems since using SSKI.
Coconut Pudding :
Here is yummy little dessert that helps kick that sugar urge and is made with really healthy ingredients:
1/2 c coconut milk (full fat)
1 tsp heaping chia seeds (goggle the health benefits of these wonder seeds).
a dash of vanilla and stevia (be careful not to make it too sweet)
This is good as is, but some pommegranate seeds make it even better and they are also very healthy.
Let the mixture sit in the fridge for 20 minutes until the seeds expand and thicken the pudding. If it is too thick just add a little more coconut milk or plain milk. Enjoy!
Good oils to eat:
Today Dr. Oz was speaking about the 3 good oils to include in your diet. They are: 1. Coconut Oil – see what I wrote about below. 2. Walnut Oil and 3. Canola Oil
Canola Oil is good for bone health because it is high in omega 3 fatty acids.. It is free of cholesterol and trans fats. It is lowest in saturated fat (7%), and it has a high smoke point. A lot of East Indian foods are made with Canola oil.
Walnut Oil is good to help you lose weight because it helps subside hunger. Like coconut oil, it is used in many cosmetics because it is high in antioxidants and has good moisturizing properties. Walnut oil also has anti inflammatory effects.
He also mentioned that Pilates exercises are helpful for women with prolapse bladder, utterus or bowel conditions.
Vitamin K
There is a good article in ALIVE health magazine that is free at most health food stores about vitamin K. I started taking vitamin D in liquid form last year and found that it made a big difference in building up my immune strength. I didn’t get the colds and flus that so many others did. Then I found out that vitamin D needs to be taken together with vitamin K to have the best results. I have changed and I am happy I did.
To quote a little out of the Alive magazine article:
- Vitamin K has some important jobs in the body, the most well-studied of which are its roles in blood clotting and bone health.
- Vitamin K is required to alter certain bone proteins so that minerals, such as calcium, can be depositied properly. Without vitamin K, all the calcium in the world may not allow you to build healthy bones.
- Vitamin K is very sensitive to heat, so if you overcook foods high in this vitamin, you will be missing out.
We are living in an exciting time. Critical information for optimum health is being discovered and published online and in magazines daily. Talk shows on T.V. are becoming very informative. I like Dr. Oz, 3 pm, channel 11 daily.

Coconut Oil: I love this one. Many women going into and through menopause suffer from an underactive thyroid and don’t realize it. To test for thyroid problems be sure your doctor tests your T3 and T4 levels to get an accurate result. Most do not do this and your test results may say your thyroid is normal when it isn’t. Goggle hypothyroid, (under active thyroid), and read the list of symptoms. Dry skin is one of them and something I battle along with an under active thyroid.

Buy Organic Virgin Coconut Oil. Approx 500 ml is $22 and it looks like lard in a jar. When you smooth a little on your skin it melts. It is a fairly light oil and takes about 10 minutes to penatrate into the skin. It leaves the skin soft, smooth, hydrated and it smells good. I love it! Try putting some coconut milk in your bath water, preferably the non low fat type. As this wonder oil hydrates and softens your skin, it is also going into your body and doing a lot more good.
